Hey Robert or anyone else. how many races do you like to run a year? have you ran many winter races?
I haven't ran much in the winter and thought a race in the winter would help keep me working on cold days. I'm from Southern Ontario.

I like to race once or twice per month in the summer. I have also run a few winter races, and that is fun too. Try it! How's the weather in southern Ontario during the winter?

Lawrence,
I've just started back, but racing always gives me a goal -- something to train for.  In fair to good temp. weather, I would enjoy 2 races per month, but remember, I don't run marathons.  If you run the longer races, you can't recover well enough to put that many together.

Hi dlayman. I have run only 5K's and one 5 mile race. looking to do the same next year. with an eye on doing a 10K maybe..

windrunner.
Hey.  I just ran another 5K race on a very hilly course.  Not a PR, but another in the 22 minute range.  That's three this fall/winter.  Plan on one more on Dec. 31, then I'll cool it for a month or so.  I don't get into the longer stuff either, but I'm starting to put in more miles and may eventually work into a 10K or one of those 25K trail runs that we have around here.

Hi guys.
The weather hear has been mostly mild this winter. which makes for great running. I ran a 5K race Feb.26th. with a time of 24:20 this is a PB for me
it was around -4, not much wind and dry. no snow on ground. flat course.

Just had a new PB in the 5K. 23:48  good day for running. 12C cloudy, so started out cool but once I got going felt good. has anyone else been running races lately?

Congrats! I have not run any races recently, but I ran a time trial a couple of weeks ago with a college running team where I'm assistant coach, and I was 2nd in 9:55. I was very happy about that.

Our college team raced this last weekend and did really great. The women's team won overall and the men were 2nd.

what distance was the time trial? sounds like your doing a great job with the collage team. keep up the good work.

I try to run 10-12 races between August and November. I ran in 1 in July and 1 in June. I also try and get in around 5-8 road races in the spring. I recently recorded a pr of 18:25 for 5k.

that is great. seems like alot of races. how does your body feel?
Posted:  18 Oct 2006 17:38
my body is fine. i try to do 4 easy days, a long day, a  tempo, and a speed day each week. After a long, speed, tempo, or race day, I take the next day easy.

I coach a high school team. I try to enter in the races anytime there is an open section.

Hey Windrunner. I live in London, Ontario so I know all about the weather issues. I am training for a 10km run on New Years Eve called the Resolution Run through the Running Room. It is keeping me motivated despite cold, rainy weather. I will likely plan another race after that in order to keep me on track.

Hi Rhonda. let me know how you do in the Resolution run. I just ran a 5 mile race on Nov. 4th. my time was 39:47 I was happy with that, didn't think I would come in under 42 min. looking at a race end of Feb.

I am from Crescenta Valley High.S. XC, and my team ran in CA, Southern Section, Division 1, CIF Finals on November 18 @ the infamous MSAC in Walnut, CA(near Irvine). I ran an OK 16:48 for 2.91mi(MAJOR HILL COURSE)(ALSO, California is weird, all other states run high.s. XC for 5K, in California...we run 3mi..and sometimes not even exact..weird). Personally, I thought my team did not do too great, and also because we did not qualify onto State Finals. (This race had 16 teams, top 7 qualify, we were not top 7). BUT, both girls/guys teams qualified for Nike Team Nationals!!!! Which is this coming saturday, Dec 2. I am so exicted, we are going to Portland, Oregon, and i hope to run my butt off!

I am 16, how old are you people?! Just curious.

Good job on that race! I ran Portland Marathon last year, it's a nice city! I really enjoyed being there.

I'm soon to be 37 by the way.
