It all started about 3 years ago, when the co-worker I sat next to at work, started telling me about how she goes running every day. I laughed and though, "You are running and nothing is chasing you? What on earth are you thinking?"
Then I quit smoking and the weight gain from snacking so much started taking a toll on my body. When I stopped smoking, I was apprx. 115 pounds. When I started looking at myself in the mirror differently, I was about 150. I had to do something about it and everyone suggested to me "Cardio, cardio, cardio!" What a better way to get a good cardio workout than running, right? After I took my leg out of my mouth and sputtering several apologetic words to my co-worker, she gave me a few tips and some words of encouragement on how to start running. It's been 1 1/2 years now and I can't believe I wasn't running sooner! I love running outside on the trails that they have for the off-leash areas and in the back 40 of the woods. Not only do I run now, but I also get to dodge tree stumps, fallen trees and the odd animal here and there. The path is never the same. It's different every day. It just feels so good to get out of the house and pound the ground. I'm now at 135 pounds, but pretty much solid muscle. I'm not too sure what % of body fat, but I am so glad nothing jiggles anymore...and i've got running to thank for that!

| Great story! It's great to hear you changed your life, so to speak, in such a positive way. Running can sure have many positive rewards. | |
