Injures totally made me mad, but they also woke me up to the word "RECOVERY," and MADE me learn better ways to train. But, I learned the hard way. Got injured, got confused, upset and all those emotions. But i got over it, and that's what mattered. Now what basically determines what i do, is whether it can injury me or NOT injury me. Yup.
The SOLEOUS, It is my achilles heel, literally. For those who don't know, is the lower part of the calf. Really, its a different muscle. TO me, its like this large-tendony chunk that can get pretty tight with runners. The soleous is my weak spot, it ALWAYS gets tight. And if i do not ice, it slowly squeezes tighter and gets very very pain-sore when flexed. Basically, i hate it, its so annoying. But just like a spoiled kid, i give it the most attention. Massage like crazy, take out all those little cramps, ice it, stetch it morning, day, and night. It is the hardest party of my body to stretch. I stretch it with a variety of ways because none by itself work: ***Prop toes on tree trunk, pole, and lean forward, regular calf stretch ***Then do this and bend knee for Soleous ***Prop toes on CURB, specific height where toes can go over edge but heel stays on ground - Maximizes calf stretch by leaning forward. ***Then do this and bend knee for Soleous ***Put hands in front of body against wall, put one leg closer to wall and one leg farther back, stretch calf on leg farther back ***Then do this, and bend knee on leg farther back. ***Lay face down on ground, hold out arms on ground to support body and put one leg's heel on ground and put other leg over support leg - like doing a very bad push-up - but don't push-up, stretch calf. *********************Yup, Max is ready to go. |

Injuries are no fun, that is right! I currently have an achilles problem, but I bought new shoes (Asics 1100) and it seem to help instantly!
I am happy it is getting better!

When i FIRST started running, I pulled my achilles. My right(or maybe it was the left)ankle swelled up to "unfitable" in my shoe.
Found the Asics Foundation(I,II,III,IV,V), that had crazy strong arch support, kinda heavy shoe. Discontinued, Asics Evolution put in it's place and I wore it for a long time. Currently wear Asics Evolution II. |
