Anyone doing the K-100 relay in the Kananaskis? See my wife's website for more information about this fantastic relay in the Rocky Mountains.
http://www.bluepaperclip.com I am not running because of my achilles injury, but I will be there to cheer for the team. |

Well, the K-100 and it was fantastic. I placed 5th overall on the dreaded leg 5, and our team ended up in 4th place.
See www.2run.ca/k-100/ for more information. |

It's kinda funny... we placed 4th officially after the race. However, the team that ended up in 3rd place made an exchange right in front of our runner on leg 1. There interesting part here is that a team with 10 runners gets a 5 minute penalty if they make an exchange on a leg. The team in 3rd place were 4 minutes and 35 seconds or so ahead of us according to the results. We noticed there was no penalty given, so I had to ask.
After a some research, it turned out the team had indeed reported the substitution to the next leg exchange station, but due to some miscommunication, the race directors weren't informed. This request of ours brought us up to 3rd place, since that team got a 5 minute penalty and we ended up a few seconds ahead of them! The part that matters in this is that the top 3 teams have a guaranteed entry for next year's relay. For all other teams, it is a draw to get in. We now draw a deep breath of relief...
